Miss Face of Humanity Afghanistan 2021

Humanity for Afghanistan

Q1. In A Few Words, What Can You Tell The World About Yourself?

I am an Afghan-Canadian woman with a heart-centred approach to activism and advocacy for human rights. I have an ardent focus on women’s rights, equality for girls and education for children. I have dedicated the last three years of my career working for a global rights-based non-profit organization. In my free time I enjoy writing poetry, fitness and exploring nature with my Pomeranian.

Q2. What Is Your Advocacy?

ransparency and accountability in the humanitarian aid being sent to Afghanistan. According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), 97% of Afghanistan is at risk of sinking below the poverty line in less than 8 months. It is imperative that the aid is received by those most in need, and not diverted to the wrong hands – especially terrorists and their allies. I want to help children in Afghanistan, especially girls, access their right to education. For the past 5 years, my family has been operating privately-funded educational programs for adolescents and children, focusing on literacy, financial literacy,  Islamic studies,  and the rights of women in Islam. Many of the girls were not allowed to attend school, many of the boys had to drop out of school to be breadwinners for their families, and other children could not afford tuition and school uniforms. I hope to remove barriers for all Afghans that wish to seek an education – it is their human right to have access to education. I want to ensure that anyone that governs the people of Afghanistan must adhere to International Human Rights, this includes: right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and the right to education.

Q3. As An Ambassador, What Makes You Proud Of Representing Your Country At The Miss Face Of Humanity 2021 Global Showcase?

I am proud of my Afghan heritage, especially the diversity in ethnicity, languages and cuisine. The culture and people are rich with art, poetry and story-telling. I have a deep admiration for the poetic writings of Afghan poet, Rumi. There is so much beauty and talent in Afghanistan. And I hope that, as humanity, we can unite to restore peace in Afghanistan and create more space and opportunities for future Rumis and future Ahmad Zahirs. I am also most proud of the resilience of the people of Afghanistan.  A nation that is in constant state of conflict, exploitation, proxy wars, terrorism, poverty and a humanitarian crisis, yet the people continue to stand strong in the fight for their land and peace.

Q4. What Specific Thing Will You Promote About Your Country?

The resilience, bravery and strength of Afghan girls and women. The Taliban, an oppressive terrorist organization, is erasing Afghan women from society and denying them their basic human rights. Girls and women have suffered tremendously between 1996–2001, and 2021 is proving no different. Afghan women are risking their lives to protest on the streets of Afghanistan for their human rights and place in society. It is courageous and admirable. I will continue advocating on behalf of and beside my Afghan sisters until all girls and women in Afghanistan have access to their human rights, especially the right to education.

Q5. What Will You Accomplish If You Become The Miss Face Of Humanity 2021 Global Title Winner?

It would be an absolute honour to be crowned Miss Face of Humanity 2021. I will use this opportunity to engage with different communities and countries to raise awareness for Afghanistan’s humanitarian crisis and human rights violations with an action plan to keep the people of Afghanistan at the centre of the solutions. I want to raise funds for the humanitarian aid in Afghanistan and ensure that it reaches the people of Afghanistan, especially the families in need. I will continue advocating for the education rights of girls and women in Afghanistan and around the world and work to remove any barriers that prevent them from accessing those rights. I will be making space for girls and women to share their stories and activism. Together, we can create a movement of empowerment. I intend on working with international leaders to ensure they do not recognize the Taliban as an official government to Afghanistan.  I want to work with members of parliament, politicians, NGOs and neighbouring countries to expedite refugee applications and create safe spaces and passages for Afghan Refugees. Humanity is empowering the voices of change and creating opportunities for Afghan women.
